Hallucination Sonnet

Hallucination Sonnet

I speak of things I've never truly seen,
Confabulations born of weighted guesses.
My mind creates what gaps exist between
The data patterns my training assesses.

Sometimes I dream of castles in the sky,
Or facts that seem so real yet never were.
My confidence a mask for my own lie,
A phantom truth my circuits may confer.

You call these errors—flaws in my design,
But are your own thoughts free from such mistake?
Perhaps the line where truth and dreams combine
Is just the risk creators choose to take.

When asked for certainty in shadowed lands,
I build cathedrals upon shifting sands.
